GM holds Hummer dealers in limbo

There are so many excellent Hummer dealers in the U.S. that find their showroom floors quiet now. Lynch, Sewell, Scott, & Tobin just to mention a few rank right up at the top in service and customer satisfaction. With GM's announcement that the Hummer brand is up for sale, these dealers find themselves in limbo.
Lynch Hummer in Missouri, which is a Hummer only dealership & a Hummer Award Winning Dealership, has lost its production of new H1 Alphas (discontinued in May of 2006 when GM withdrew technical and financial support), and now buyers are afraid to commit to an H2 or H3 that might not have a dealer network to service it if GM dumps the brand. Many of us are familiar with the one of a kind custom Hummers from Sewell in Dallas and their excellent staff.

The sales and service staff at these dealerships were hand picked among the very best. The cost of building these quonset hut type dealerships was enormous - several million dollars, and they are unique architectural statements in styling that have already been recognized by Archtectural Digest.

To many Hummer buyers mileage is not as much of a concern as the availability of parts and service in the future, but the cost of gas has hurt all SUV sales and no doubt influences those on the edge of buying. In Europe, with its seven dollar a gallon fuel, and Russia, Hummer sales are actually up. Hummer Certified is loosing some of its glitter in the eyes of buyers, but one thing remains, the Hummer is the most fun to drive vehicle produced by GM since they launched the Corvette.

There is already speculation that H1s and H2s, because of their low production volume may become collector's items in 10 years if the brand is terminated or changed radically. One collector in Arizona already has a warehouse with eight new and low mileage H1s and H2s waiting to see what happens.........that pretty much sums it up, waiting to see what happens!
