The Hummer as a family hobby

Have you ever noticed how kids love riding in Hummers? Our kids just love the Hummer and whether it's at a cub scout baseball game or taking them home from school, there's always a handful that want to ride home in the Hummer with Mr. Hummer. For many families, the Hummer brings them together for a Sunday drive. I've had our two girls saying, "are we going somewhere in the Hummer today?"

Kids don't fret about gas prices or public opinion, they think the Hummer is just plain AWESOME. When you go to Epcot, what's the one vehicle there is always a line to sit in - yep, it's the H2. What better vehicle is there to take the family camping in? In a survey conducted by ADOA it was found that 58% of Hummer H2 owners have been off road in their vehicles, as opposed to the national SUV average of 3%. That is an astounding 20 times the national average! In Texas the survey off road percentage for Hummers was even higher - 78%.

All large vehicles are threatened by rising gas prices because of unchecked oil speculation and the H2 Hummer gets an unfair wrap as a polluter. The big H2 actually ranks 5th in terms of hydrocarbons and pollutants. When you factor in the minuscule number of H2s compared to the number of Jeep Grand Cherokees, Mercedes GL 320 and VW Touregs that pollute more, the H2 accounts for LESS THAN 1% of the pollution from the top 10 dirtiest vehicles & many higher production sports cars aren't even ranked. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25516947/

AM General, which makes the H2 for GM, as well as military Humvees, has done a lot to make this a cleaner vehicle! Of course kids could care less, they just want to go through the creek in the Hummer!
