Hummer Dealers May Survive

The Phantom visited personally with me last week after I expressed my concern about Towbin closing. He said there is more to that sale and closing than meets the eye and would not elaborate. He advised me that engineering and design work is still going forward on the HX, and GM has committed to turning out at least 3300 units of the H3T this year. The Phantom's biggest concern now is GM buying out stand alone and high volume Hummer dealers.

Most importantly, "opposition to selling Hummer remains very high by an EXTREMELY HIGH AND DECISIVE executive at GM," according to The Phantom. He also advised me that Lynch Hummer in Missouri has been doing double figures in the monthly sales units of Hummers this summer and their H1 sales and service are stronger than ever this summer - go figure?? There may actually not be enough H1s in the marketplace to meet demands next year. Interest in the alternate fuel E85 2009 H2 has exceeded summer projections as of Sept 9th. Some Hummer dealers are doing well with used and certified Hummer sales alone.
Although gasoline prices are still running $3.69 a gallon here, The Phantom tells me that the think tank group at Hummer believes gas prices will be under a $2.oo a gallon in November 2008 in many parts of the US. So far, The Phantom and the Hummer think tank group has been very accurate and I would love to see $1.99 a gallon gas, which would boost Hummer sales considerably.
