It's beginning to sound like a wake

I was at the Hummer dealer to pick up some roof marker lights yesterday. Three other owners were waiting in the lounge, two getting their oil changed and another having a radiator flush. There was ONE Hummer in the showroom and it was so quiet I thought I was in church for a moment. The owners sat on the sofas and talked in hushed tones, like you would at a funeral. We all agreed that while Hummer is not dead yet, it's on life support with a terminal diagnosis. Even The Phantom who is always upbeat, talked with me from Detroit for 30 minutes last night and said things are looking very bad for the future of the Hummer brand. Three execs have bought new H2s and are going to store them for posterity. That's a shame because Hummers are meant to be driven, through snow, ice, mud, sand, hell or high water.
