A reader of this site sent me some pictures of an offroad event they had in California last month. There were Hummers, Jeeps, and several different makes of 4 X 4 pickup trucks.
One thing I noticed in several of the pictures was the litter by the side of the trail. There were empty plastic water bottles, rags and numerous beverage cans within five feet of the trail. One picture even showed a shredded and discarded tire next to rusted out gasoline can from years past still along the trail.
When you go offroading it's easy to take along a plastic bag and store all your "junk and refuse" until you get home. That way the trail is clean for the next group. It's the same old story of 5% of the users not caring and making a bad name for the other 95%. There's something beautiful about being miles away from anywhere on a clean trail. Let's keep it that way!
