AM General H2 Plant

An insider at GM reports that a foreign conglomerate is "very interested in financing and purchasing the Hummer H2 plant before March 31." This same source said that the conglomerate wants to continue production of the H2, would like to produce a civilian H1 at a foreign facility, and is considering a diesel power plant as an option for the Hummer H2 for foreign export. The GM insider said interest is also there for the H3 but labor contracts and the existing H3 facility in Shreveport, LA, would make its purchase more difficult. When contacted by phone AM General had "no comment" on discussions of purchasing the H2 production facilities, and would neither deny or confirm that the Hummer H2 production line is being converted for taxi cab production. There will always be a need for well-built rugged offroad vehicles, especially in third world countries where most roads are dirt.
