2006 H1 Alphas

There is no doubt that the 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha was the best H1 ever! The 300 horsepower Duramax Diesel gave the H1 a new level of high performance. Couple the new engine with the commercially designed heavy duty Allison 5-speed transmission that is nearly bullet proof and you have the best power team ever for an H1. The helical cut wheel hubs elimiated the wheel growl and a lot of the stopping bounce common in H1s. Big news also came with the 12 inch hardened steel brake rotors and hardened pads. Several 2006 H1s in everyday use have gone 100,000 miles on the original brakes! The half shafts were increased in diameter and a new high strength steel was used. The 2006 H1 sits three inches taller than other H1s. AM General lists the body lift as two inches, but with the tires and rims, it actually sits about three and half inches higher than other H1s. That gives the 2006 improved ground clearance and departure and approach angles that boggle the mind. With a production total of 729 the 2006 H1 Alpha was, and still is the king of the H1s! I've driven a 2006 H1 Alpha and all I can say is WOW & INCREDIBLE!
