James Taylor the new Hummer CEO

General Motors announced yesterday that James Taylor will become the new CEO at Hummer, replacing Martin Walsh. Mr Taylor is 52 years old and has been Cadillac general manager since 2004 and has been with GM for 28 years. Taylor will move into the newly created position under premium division VP Mark McNabb, and will now be responsible for “the future strategy and current business of HUMMER worldwide,” according to a GM press release.

What this means for the future of Hummer is anyone's guess, but Taylor is known for his aggressive marketing skills and extensive knowledge of GM's manufacturing techniques. With the addition of the STS, the Cadillac brand has flourished in the last few years, and "MAYBE" he can make a Hummer HX flourish!

Martin Walsh did an outstanding job with the Hummer brand, keeping it alive when many thought it would die this summer, and he spurred on the H3, which has been very successful for Hummer and GM. Mr Walsh, HUMMER’s current general manager, will be responsible for dealer relations and then “move to another assignment that will be announced soon.”
